Workshop on Lifecycle Greenhouse Gas Analysis for the Proposed Revisions to the National Renewable Fuels Standard Program

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency hosted a workshop on June 10-11 at the Dupont Hotel in Washington D.C. and via a web meeting to present details of its lifecycle greenhouse gas analysis for Proposed Revisions to the National Renewable Fuels Standard Program. The intent of the workshop was to help ensure a full understanding of EPA’s lifecycle analysis, the major issues identified and the options discussed. This workshop will help ensure that the Agency receives submission of the most thoughtful and useful comments to the proposal and that the best methodology and assumptions are used for calculating GHG emissions impacts of fuels for the final rule.

This workshop was held during the comment period on the Proposed Revision, and a record of the meeting will be included in the rulemaking docket. The workshop included time for attendees to provide technical input on the lifecycle analysis in the Proposed Revision in addition to asking questions about the analysis.

A public hearing on the Proposed Revisions was also held on June 9, 2009 at the Dupont Hotel beginning at 10:00 AM eastern time.

For information on how to comment on the proposal in writing, please see pages 2-3 of the Proposed Rule.
